Channel Islands Dumpster Diver?

I'm thinking about getting the Dumpster Diver by Dane Reynolds, probably a 5'7. I was wondering if that board surfs well in small waves? The CI website says small/med surf, i'll be surfing knee-waist high. If anyone has any experience with that board i'd like to know about its performance in small beach breakers. If not, what other boards do you recommend? (preferably channel islands / lost), thanks
