Navy diver question. Need help with future plans!?

im in the process of enlisting in the navy and was hoping to become a diver when there is a slot available. Basically i developed a plan that says i get trained to be a diver(and do the job) and hopefully get my BA in engineering during my first contract(and maybe a little time after.) Potentially going using my diving skills, engineering, or whatever other skills i possess afterward. I was hoping if someone could tell me if this is a good doable plan. Or tell me what flaws there are so i can work them out
