Where is the logic in saying the soldiers in Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam, etc are fighting for our freedom?

They believe they are fighting for everybody's freedom. The West's state of perpetual war with the enemies of progress, we are told, is for the greater good. We are not told where or who the enemy really is, but that doesn't matter.
